Yes, Joomla 1.6 is finally here and stable. We are now offering Joomla 1.6 website development as well as 1.6 upgrades.

New Website: Should I choose Joomla 1.5 or 1.6?

Unfortunately, we can't answer this for you. It all depends on what you want in a website. While Joomla 1.6 has been out for a while it just recently became stable. There are pros and cons to both Joomla versions.

Pros of using Joomla 1.6

• Improved Access Control System - This allows site administrators to give control over who can view and manage content. You can create your own groups and not just registered, author, manager, administrator like Joomla 1.5
• Unlimited Depth Organizational Model - Gives site administrators and content creators user-defined category levels that allow for the creation of a category tree with as many or as few levels for organizing articles and other content as needed. Joomla 1.5 only has sections and categories. 1.6 did away with sections and gave us unlimited category structure.
• One-Click Extension Updates - Users can keep sites secure and controlled by simplifying the process of updating extensions.
• Semantic XHTML Layouts - Provides a better baseline for semantic content presentation.
• Support & Extensions for 1.5 - Joomla.org still supports Joomla 1.5 but only for a limited time. Soon 1.5 will no longer be supported and 1.5 extensions will stop being created.

Pros of Using Joomla 1.5

• Familiarity - If you have used Joomla before you are probably familiar with it. Also, while we are offering 1.6 services, we are also more familiar with 1.5 so there will be less buggy issues if we use 1.5
• Support & Resources - There is much more support resources on the internet as 1.5 has been around for a while
• Less Bugs - Minimal bugs where as there will probably be alot for the new Joomla 1.6
• Joomla 1.8 Release - Joomla 1.8 should be released about 1 year from 1.6. Some people choose to use 1.5 and wait for 1.8.

Our advice is if you are looking for a smaller site, for instance a small business informational website, then use the new Joomla 1.6. If you are looking for a more interactive site with ecommerce, social networking, directory sites, etc then maybe use Joomla 1.5 for now, at least until most of the big bugs are worked out of Joomla 1.6.
