Kunena is in my opinion the best forum component for Joomla. It is a full featured forum and integrates easily with Joomla and Jomsocial or Community Builder. If you are going to use Kunena especially if you are going to remove the powered by kunena link, then I would suggest throwing them a few bucks for their efforts.
To remove the Kunena powered by link goto
components/com_kunena/kunena.php
goto line 800 or around 800 and look for //Credits
Delete the line under it that reads
echo '<div> ' . CKunenaLink::GetTeamCreditsLink ( $catid, JText::_('COM_KUNENA_POWEREDBY') ) . ' ' . CKunenaLink::GetCreditsLink ();
That's it! the link will now be gone.
